How I Found Peace Again When Life Got Too Loud
There was a point not too long ago when everything around me was just go, go, go.
Life was loud. Nonstop. And somewhere in all that noise, I realized I couldn’t hear myself anymore—and honestly, I couldn’t hear God either.
It wasn’t a crisis. I wasn’t falling apart.
But I had this ache for something more. Something still. Something sacred.
Something that would help me reconnect with what actually matters.
So, I did what I hadn’t done in a while.
I opened my laptop.
Not to make something for anyone else. Not to “be productive.”
Just to create something for me.
That moment became the beginning of a piece called Sunriser—and without knowing it at the time, it was also the beginning of my reconnection with stillness, with peace, and with God.
Sunriser Was My Way of Slowing Down
From the moment I started designing her, I knew Sunriser wasn’t just another piece of art.
She was a visual expression of something I couldn’t fully say with words:
a deep need for quiet. For nature. For permission to slow down and be.
Her two different-colored eyes tell their own story:
-
One holds the sunrise, symbolizing new beginnings and the promise of the day ahead.
-
The other blends with golden tones, representing a grounded connection to the earth from dawn to dusk.
She’s surrounded by greenery, wildflowers, and even hidden bunnies tucked into her hair—each element reflecting freedom, calm, and joy in the details.

Sunriser reminded me what it feels like to return to your natural rhythm—the one God built into you before the world told you to hustle.
A Sacred Space Where God’s Voice Comes Through
For me, God’s voice doesn’t just come one way.
Sometimes, it’s loud—unmistakable. Like a vision or conviction I can’t ignore.
Other times, it’s quieter—a gentle nudge or a moment of clarity that seems to land in my spirit when I least expect it.
And nature… nature has always been a space where I hear Him clearly.
Not because He’s quieter there, but because everything else gets quieter, and I can finally listen.
When I was creating Sunriser, I felt both kinds of moments:
-
The gentle reminder to slow down
-
The strong pull back to what really matters
Both were from Him. And both helped me reconnect.
Art as a Reflection of the Caretaker in Me
Looking back, I realize how much of myself is woven into this piece.
I’m not a mom yet, but nurturing is a big part of who I am.
It shows up in the way I care for people, for pets, for my home—and even for my spider plants (which are known for purifying the air).
That same energy is in Sunriser—in her posture, her expression, and the hidden details that reward anyone willing to slow down and really look.
That’s what I love most about her:
There’s always something new waiting to delight you.
She invites you to breathe, notice, and care deeply about the little things.
Sunriser now hangs in my studio as a visual reminder of that truth.

If You're Feeling Overwhelmed…
Maybe you’re there right now—feeling distant, overextended, or spiritually disconnected.
If so, let me remind you:
You don’t need to perform your way back to God.
You don’t need to be perfect, productive, or polished.
Sometimes all you need is to pause, and be still enough to let His voice break through.

Let’s End With a Prayer for Stillness
A Prayer for the One Craving Stillness
God,
I’ve been moving so fast I forgot how to be still.
My thoughts race, my schedule overwhelms, and somewhere in the noise—I’ve lost sight of You.
I want to feel Your presence again.
Not just in church or on good days,
but here… in the quiet, in the ordinary, in the slow moments I often rush past.
Teach me how to pause.
To breathe deeply.
To recognize Your voice in nature, in color, in creativity,
and in the parts of myself I’ve neglected.
Help me honor stillness as sacred.
To resist the pressure to perform or produce.
To simply be—and know that You are God.
Thank You for meeting me in unexpected places—
in artwork, in sunlight, in silence.
Draw me close again,
and let stillness make space for healing.
Amen.

Final Thoughts
In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, be more, and stay busy, choosing stillness is an act of resistance—and an act of faith.
Sunriser helped me remember that.
She’s not just art. She’s an invitation.
To slow down.
To reconnect.
To hear God’s voice again—however it chooses to show up.
Maybe it’s time you created your own version of stillness, too.
