Living in a tiny apartment with seven girls (and only two bathrooms!) taught me more than I expected, but the biggest lesson came from my roommate, Cristina. She wasn’t just my friend; she became my muse. Cristina found joy in everything she did and inspired me to see the world the same way.
One day, I dressed her in a scarf and hat from a Roman street vendor, had her dance behind filtered glass, and snapped what would become this image. Later, I brought it to life by manipulating the colors in Photoshop, letting bold golds and warm tones reflect the incredible energy she shared with the world.
This piece captures more than that singular moment; it represents freedom, joy, and finding your rhythm. Cristina’s lighthearted movements reminded me how freeing it feels to be unapologetically yourself, to surrender control, and to lean into joy without fear.
