Sunriser

I created Sunriser during a season when life felt like it was all go, go, go. I craved stillness, a moment to step away from the noise and reconnect with something bigger than myself. This artwork became my way of channeling that need for peace, reminding me of the freedom I feel when I’m surrounded by nature.

Sunriser is filled with the energy of morning light and the grounding presence of nature. Her two different-colored eyes tell their own story. One holds the sunrise, symbolizing new beginnings and the promise of the day ahead. The other blends with golden tones, representing a deep connection to the earth from dawn until dusk. Together, they reflect the beauty of being fully present in every moment.

Surrounded by greenery, flowers, and hidden bunnies tucked into her hair, Sunriser feels totally at one with the natural world. She’s free from judgment, the demands of the day, and the chaos of modern life. For me, nature represents that kind of freedom—a space where there’s no critique or rushing, just room to care for what matters most.

When I think back to creating Sunriser, I realize how much of this piece connects to the caretaker in me. I’m not a mom yet, but it’s a role I dream about. I see glimpses of it already in the way I nurture the people, pets, and plants in my life. My home is filled with spider plants (known for purifying the air), and they feel like a little nod to the same energy this piece embodies.

What I love most about Sunriser are the hidden surprises woven into her details, reminding you to always look closer. Whether it’s the bunnies in her hair or the interplay of textures and colors, there’s always something new waiting to delight you.

Hanging this piece in my studio has created a small sense of stillness for me, even in the hustle of city life. Every time I look at her, she reminds me to pause, breathe, and connect with that part of myself that craves the quiet strength of nature.
